started on my “shiprock” treatment WIP
Shiprock is a story about an adolescent name “Jared”; it was an ordinary day at Shiprock High School. Jared’s girlfriend “Melissa” gets selected to be the homecoming queen. After the announcement, she calls Jared at home, telling him the relationship is over.
Jared’s heart shattering into piece’s while dropping his coke bottle on the floor at his home. Jared calls up his best friend “Boris”. Boris arrives at Jared’s house, Boris tells Jared that Melissa is with “Brian”; Brian is the quarterback of the football team.
Jared is sitting at the kitchen table, burst into tears, denying the rumors. Boris tells Jared about last night he saw them making out at the homecoming bon fire. Jared is standing there with Boris watching Melissa and Brian making out passionately, as the fire roars.
Boris tells Jared “there are plenty more fish in the sea and the homecoming game is tonight and Shiprock Fair is the next day. “Dave” and “Zach” are posted up against a Thriftway convenient store. Dave and Zach are talking to a bunch of BMX riders. Zach mentions of how he saw Melissa kissing on Brian at the homecoming bon fire. “Oh shit that was messed up what she did to you” Zach replied.
Carnival lights lit up the small town, smoke from the food stands filled the atmosphere. Grandma’s and Grandpa’s filled the Yei Bi Cheii grounds, Cowboys, and Cowgirls filled the rodeo stands. Friday night lights filled the Shiprock vs. Kirtland game.
They both walked from the store to the football game. “I don’t really want to come to the football game in the first place” Jared replied.
